The first word to hear

It’s 7 a.m. on Sunday morning.
It’s the apartment and me.
The first word to hear is yet to come
from somewhere –
most likely through a telephone wire
or wireless or from someone
at a bakery.
But there’s bird song
through the open window,
and those birds
seem to be saying something.

Sorry not to comment in German...

This poem is unfreakinbelievable.

(The comment's American vernacular, but owes a debt to German for the creation of compund words.)

Guten morgen,

Good idea. It's always worthwhile to make sure the outside world is still rolling along.
I did consider asking my cat to say something, but settled for waiting for my husband to wake up.

Nice to hear the birds singing. I hope they aren't stool pigeons. Wiping stool from pigeons is never a pleasant experience.

This reminds me of a riddle. What did the worm say to the bird?

Ans: Are you shitting me?

Best,

~Mark
